STREATOR- Willard D. Olson Sr. 87 of rural Streator died Saturday evening (Mar. 17, 2012) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator with his brother-in-law, Rev. Robert Kreier and Rev. Daniel Stalker, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator, additional visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Mr. Olson was born July 23, 1924 at home in rural Streator, the son of Walter and Mabel (Schroeder) Olson. He married Maxine E. Kreier, Nov. 15, 1953 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death Feb. 19, 1998.
Willard had farmed in rural Streator his lifetime. He was member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the LaSalle County Farm Bureau, LaSalle County Extension Council, he had been a Funks Hybrid Seed Dealer and also had been active with the Sick Benefit Society of St. Paul’s Church He attended Wolf Creek Grade School and Streator High School, class of 1942.
He is survived by one daughter, Jean (Duane Schuster) Olson, Urbana, two sons Robert (Peggy) Olson, Champaign and Willard “Bill” (Carol “Bridgett”) Olson Jr., rural Streator, two grandsons, Matthew Olson, Streator and Dale Olson, Champaign and one sister Helen McCoy, Joliet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Marcia Jean Olson, one son, Richard Lee Olson and one grandson, Nathan Olson.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Matthew and Dale Olson, Nephews Greg Kreier and John McCoy and great nephews, Craig and Mark McCoy and friend, Bill Poole.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Elevator Fund or to the Grand Ridge Fire Department.
