Virgil Evans

Virgil A. Evans, 72, of Streator passed away at 9:14 PM Monday (September 3, 2018) at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

A visitation will be held from 3-5 PM Sunday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.  Steve Biroschik will officiate.

Full Military rites will be held following the services by Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

He was born on June 16, 1946 in Streator to John & Lucy (Thompson) Crozier.  He was formerly married to the former Sue Hill.

He is survived by a son:  Josh (Ashley Loy) Evans of Streator; grandchildren:  Haleigh Evans, Joshua Evans and Jacob Watchinski; his mother Lucy Crozier of Streator; his former wife Sue Evans of Streator; a brother, Duane (Lena) Evans of Pontiac and a sister Evelyn (Gary Blazibich) Tkach of Streator.

He was preceded in death his father; a son, John Evans a brother, George Evans and a nephew, John Handzus.

He graduated from Streator Township High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He retired from the Pontiac Correctional Center as a correctional officer.

He was a member of the Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492, Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Long Rider’s Motorcycle Club in Streator.

He loved to ride motorcycles especially his Harley.  He liked going out to eat and spending time with his grandchildren.
