Theresa M. Hozie

Theresa M. Hozie, 66 of Peoria, passed away Monday, October 26, 2026 at her residence.

Theresa was born on February 29, 1960, a leap year baby, unique from day one. She was born in Streator, a daughter of Jerome J. and Helen E. (Schuster) Hozie.

She is survived by her mother, Helen Hozie of Streator; two sisters, Patti (Dan Taylor) Hozie of Streator and Sharon Barlow of Normal; and brother, John (Gina) Hozie of Streator. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Nick & Sophie Barlow, Kelsey (Shea) Dickson, and Tate (Caitlin) Hozie; and several great nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerome Hozie.

Theresa had taught at St. Thomas Catholic School in Peoria Heights for 35 years until retirement and continued to substitute teach for several years after retirement. She was an animal lover and donated her time at the Friends and Strays of Princeton.

There was a private family services held at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Cremation rites had been accorded. Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator is assisting the family with arrangements.
