Terrence Novotney

Terrence “Terry” R. Novotney, 76, of Streator passed away at 4:20 PM Sunday (November 18, 2018) at Heritage Health in Streator.

A visitation will be held Monday from 9-11 AM at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM at the funeral home.  Rev. Bill Callister of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will officiate.

Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery in Streator.  Family members will serve as pallbearers.

He was born on October 26, 1942 in Streator to Ralph & Louise (Plimmer) Novotney.  He married the former Susan Delporte on July 26, 1969.  She preceded him in death on July 27, 2000.

He is survived by his children:  Lisa (the late Paul) Donahue of Morris and Brian (Sarah) Novotney of Normal;  grandchildren:  Brody & Thomas Novotney, Nina, Pauly, Janelle, Aidan and Keira Donahue; a brother, David (Virginia) Novotney of Delaware, Ohio; his mother in-law, Margaret Delporte of Streator and his beloved cat Missy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

He graduated from Streator Township High School, attended Iowa State University and graduated from Illinois State University.

He had been an English teacher at Grand Ridge Grade School and then retired from Commonwealth Edison.

He was a member of the N.R.A. and A.A.R.P.

Terry liked camping, working on cars and helping his family.
