Stephen A. Centko

Stephen A. Centko, 73 of Streator passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa.

Stephen was born May 15, 1950 in Streator, a son of Anthony and Ellen (Larson) Centko. 

He served in Vietnam with the Army’s 196^th Infantry.  He worked in the building trades and enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking in his free time.

Stephen played the bass guitar with several groups over the years, culminating with the Centko Danly Band.

He is survived by his brother, Anton Centko of Streator; his children, Creede Centko of Streator, Will Centko of Long Point and Claire Centko of Littleton, CO; three grandchildren, Wade, Caroline and Charlotte Centko.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Beth Danley Centko; and his sister, Mary Ellen Patterson.

Following Stephen’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.  Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator is entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
