Sandra Beavers

Sandra L. “Sandy” Beavers 68 of Streator. After a brave and strong fight, we lost our wife, mother, grandmother and friend to lung cancer Thursday August 25, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria . Another star was added to the heavens… We saw her begin her new journey Thursday night after leaving the hospital in the form of a brilliant shooting star.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30AM Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church , Streator with Rev. Philip Halfacre, officiating. Visitation will from 4:00-7:00 PM Monday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with a prayer service at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Beavers was born Apr. 22, 1943 in rural Magnolia, the daughter of Paul and Corrine ( Gallup ) Greathouse. She married Edward Beavers, Oct. 7, 1961 at St. Anthony’s Church, Streator. He survives.
Sandy had been employed as activity director at Streator Unlimited and was a District # 44 grade school teacher at Kimes and Sherman schools, retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church , and a member of the Moose Lodge, Streator.
She is survived by her husband Ed, two daughters, Mary Sullivan, Streator and Lea Ann (Brian) Brown, San Tan Valley AZ, one son Edward Beavers, London Mills IL, grandchildren, Jim (Jamie) and Erin Sullivan, Eddie, Kyle, Jeriann and Mckenzie Beavers, Cindy (David) Mercado, Bob, Bill and Matt Davis, Lauren, Brittany, Kenda and Taylor Brown, great grandchildren, Austin Sullivan, Gunner Mercado and Sophia Rae Davis, one sister, Paula (Ed) Wheeler, Streator, two brothers, Fred (Marge) Greathouse, Buena Vista AK and Jim (Shirley) Greathouse, Huntsville AL.. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, Homer and Cecelia Beavers, son-in-law, Randy Sullivan, sister-in-law, Georgia Bakalar, and brother-in-law, Jim Beavers.
Pallbearers will be Jim Sullivan, Eddie Beavers, Bill and Matt Davis, Mike Majercin and Steve Greathouse. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry and Joan Pellegrini, Brian Brown, Ed Wheeler, Barb, John and Joanne Beavers, Ted Bakalar, Shirley and Marge Greathouse, Bob Davis and Aaron Westhoff
