Ruth Wagenknecht

Ruth Dorothy Wagenknecht died Wednesday afternoon (June 22, 2011) at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator. Ruth was born Aug. 23, 1917 the daughter of Charles and Mary (Sedlacek) Wagenknecht.
There will be no visitation. A memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery , Forest Park Illinois . Hagi Funeral Home, Streator, is in charge of arrangements.
She attended grade school and high school in Oak Park , Illinois . Upon graduating from Oak Park HS, she began her career with the Dairy Division of the US Agriculture Department, working in downtown Chicago . She retired in the late 1960’s and moved to Streator , Illinois in the early 1970’s. She was a member of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Streator Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. She was also a lifetime member of the Engle Lane Community Theater.
She is survived by four nieces and by many great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Harriet (Axel) Schaffer and Agnes (John) Shaw and two brothers, Charles and Theodore (Lillian) Wagenknecht.
