STREATOR- Ruth E. Brozak 91 of Streator died Monday evening (May 20, 2013) at Pleasant View Luther Home, Ottawa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator, with Monsignor Philip Halfacre, officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 AM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Brozak was born Jan. 23, 1922 in Marquette Michigan, the daughter of Elmer and Ida (Peterson) Mahaffey. She married Andrew Brozak Nov. 26, 1942 at St. Stephen’s Church. He preceded her in death January 2, 2004.
Ruth had been employed in housekeeping at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator for 21 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association and St. Anne’s Society. She attended school in Sands, Michigan.
She is survived by one daughter, Frances (Charles) Gamons, Ottawa, two sons, Richard (Carolyn) Brozak and David Brozak, both of Streator, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, five step grandchildren and one sister, Eunice Durand, Sonora, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Mae, Ethel, Lyda and Alice and brothers Eugene, Victor and Robert.
Pallbearers will be Edward and Jason Freeman, Richard Jr., Robert, Brian and Miranda Brozak.
