Roland P. Bastien, 80, of Streator passed away at 9:00 AM Saturday (November 3, 2018) in rural Streator.
A memorial visitation will be held from 10-11 AM Thursday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 11 AM at the funeral home. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate. Full military rites will be conducted at 10:45 AM at the funeral home by Streator American Legion Post 217 and the Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
He was born on September 27, 1938 in Jermiel, France to Henri & Martha (Mattmann) Bastien. He married the former Major Ortego on June 13, 1964 in New Orleans. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons: Wade Bastien of Los Gatos, CA and Kevin Bastien of Covington, GA; a daughter: Jane (Brad) Schupp of Congerville; 4 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Renee Rush and a brother in infancy.
He graduated from Streator Township High School and had an Associates in Technology from I.V.C.C.
He then served in the United States Army. He retired from G.T.E. as a long distance technician in 1995.
He was a member of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and now a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church. He also belonged to the Streator Ramp Builders.
He enjoyed gardening, electronics and traveling.
