Richard "Dick" Sroka Sr.

Richard D. “Dick” Sroka Sr, 84 of Streator passed away Monday, December 18, 2023 at OSF Center for Health Streator.

 

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator.  Funeral services will follow at 5:00 PM with Pastor Paul Webster officiating and military rites performed by the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.  Cremation rites will be accorded after the services.

 

Dick was born February 9, 1939 in LaSalle, a son of Aloysius and Inez (Graham) Sroka.  He married Bonnie L. Noon on June 24, 1962 in Streator.  She preceded him in death on January 30, 2019.

 

He is survived by a daughter, Patti Loudenback of Streator; a son, Richard D. “Rick” (Jeannette) Sroka Jr. of Malone, WI; 8 grandchildren, Scotty Sroka, Richard D. “David” Sroka III, Chanse Loudenback, Christina Coats, Katrina Loudenback, Brandon (Brittany) Loudenback, Kaylee Sroka and Jimmy Sokol; 8 great grandchildren, Jayce, Chandler, Bryce and Crue Loudenback and Thomas Boyd, all of Streator, Lillian and Oliver Loudenback of Seneca, and Gavin Newell of Portland, Oregon.  Also surviving is his beloved dog, Snickers.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom and Bob Sroka; and four sisters, Joyce Matas, Donna Dettelhouser, Ruth Almy and Sherri Redd.

 

Dick served in the United States Army during Vietnam and was an avid softball player while in the military.  He worked at GE Plastics and retired in 1999.

 

Dick was a friendly person and loved making small talk and telling jokes.  He enjoyed watching a good Packer’s football game and finding a good deal at an auction.

 

Memorial contributions may be made St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
