Richard Smith

Richard G. “Dick” Smith, 82 of Streator passed away at 6:15 AM Saturday September 10, 2016 at his home.
A visitation will be held from 3-7 PM Thursday at the Hagi Funeral Home in Streator and also one hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the Hagi Funeral Home with interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Streator.
He was born September 17, 1933 in Loda, IL to Alvin Jack & Donna (Kiest) Smith.  He married the former Willadean Greene and she died in 1968.  He then married the former Carol Pierce and she preceded him in death in 2004.
He is survived by his children:  Donna (Richard Hunter) Wiechman of Streator, James S. (Lori) Smith of Streator, Dennis (Maxine) Smith of Benton, IL, Amy Pillash of Streator, Andrew Smith of Streator, Michael (Lisa) Smith of Streator and Allan (Misty) Smith of Albia, Iowa and one he thought of as a son:  Kevin (Tammy) Harsted of Streator; 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; a daughter in-law, Rebecca Smith of Oglesby; a brother, Ronald (Sara) Smith of Seneca and a sister Edith (Robert) Soberri of Toluca.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives; a son, Richard Smith,  a daughter in infancy, Julie Ann Smith; a brother, Anthony Smith and a sister Alice Smith in infancy.
He attended Seneca High School and was a self employed mechanic owning and operating, Dick’s Auto Repair in Streator.
He was a member of the Marshall County Sportsman Club.
Dick loved to camp and never met a stranger as everyone knew him by “Grandpa Smith”.  He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and friend who got along with everyone.
