Noreen "Rene" Schimek

Noreen “Rene” C. Schimek, 73, of Streator passed away Friday afternoon at her residence.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10 AM until Noon Saturday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held at Noon at the funeral home.  Monsignor Philip Halfacre of St. Michael the Archangel Church will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.

She was born on August 20, 1946 in Chicago to John & Dorothy (Rochford) Connolly.  She married Fred Schimek on July 15, 1967.  He survives.

She is also survived by her children:  Dorothy (Kevin) Ryband of Frankfort, Bobby (Susan) Mishka of Shorewood; Mark (Sarah) Schimek of Ottawa; grandchildren:  Jennifer Erickson, Stacy Ryband, Anthony Russell, Eric Blake, Skylar Schimek and Bethany Schimek; great grandchildren:  Christopher Ryband, Kevin Blakemore and Grace Blakemore and sisters:  Martha Rowland of Indiana, Theresa (Dean) Wilkerson of Cedar Lake, IN and Linda Bright of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Michael Connolly and sisters:  Jackie, Patsy and Cathy Connolly.

She graduated from St. Gabe’s Catholic Church in Chicago.

She loved to volunteer especially at the Streator Moose Family Center and the Streator Eagles.  She served as the Men’s President for a term.  She loved to raise money for Mooseheart.

Her grandkids were her biggest joy.
