A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Monday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Steve Adamson will officiate.
Interment will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery.
She was born September 22, 1959 in Streator to Ralph & Jenny (Mazzola) Wilsman. She married Ron “Wally” Wahl on June 27, 1986. He survives.
She is also survived by two sons: Chad (Jordie) Wahl of Streator and Alex Wahl of Streator; a sister, Julie Worden of Spring Valley; her mother-in-law: Marcia Wahl of Streator and her dog, Bo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law: Robert Wahl.
She graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School and Streator High School in 1977.
Marla spent time at Union Bank as a teller before taking a job at Teleweld as a secretary for several years. She worked part-time so she could meet her children at home after school. Marla then worked for District 44 for two years. She then finished her career with Streator High School, which she worked for 16 years from 2001-2018. Marla spent many years working at High School football and basketball games.
Marla enjoyed several hobbies over the years. She and her husband, Wally, bowled in leagues at Bowl-Mor Lanes. She enjoyed her summers off from school and took full advantage of the warm weather while she would keep her pool crystal clear and her yard always perfectly manicured. She enjoyed planting flowers and kept a house full of beautiful greenery (house plants).
Marla loved watching her two boys grow up into handsome young men. She never missed a sporting event over 20 years. She loved to watch golf, football, baseball, basketball and soccer games. She was always one of the last moms in the bleachers.
She loved hosting family dinners such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Her and her friends loved to travel to near and far towns looking for fun nick-nacks to add to her home décor. She also looked forward to her cousin’s vacation every year. She also loved her pets over the years, Duke, Buddy and Bo.
She was a member of Faith Assembly of God church in Peru. She was a former member of the Streator High School Mom’s Club for football.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Streator High School Life Skills Class in care of Crystal Robart.
