Marie A. Kruger, 88, of Streator passed away at 7:42 PM Thursday (March 30, 2017) at her home.
A visitation will be held from 2-5 PM Sunday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 2:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday after 10:30 AM prior to leaving for the Mass.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jeff Winkler, Chad Phillips, Tony and Joey Wargo and sons-in-law, Max Winkler, Gary Wargo and Bill Shanebrook. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was born on April 11, 1928 in Rural Ottawa to Camille & Anna Marie (Haseman) Charlier. She married Leo H. Kruger on April 24, 1948 at Sacred Heart Church in Kinsman. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2009.
She is survived by a son, Ronald (Twyla) Kruger of Streator; 4 daughters: Patty (W. Max) Winkler of Streator, Kathryn Flowers of Island Lake, Cynthia (Bill) Shanebrook of Burlington, WI and Carol (Gary) Wargo of Streator; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; a brother, Everett (Barb) Charlier of Palatine, IL; 2 sister-in-laws: Mary Charlier of Pontiac and Jeanne Kruger of Streator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great grandson: Jared Rebholz; a sister, Josephine Reilly and a brother, Ernest Charlier.
She graduated from Kinsman Grade School and Mazon High School.
She had worked at State Farm Insurance, Montgomery Wards, Lipton Tea and Broadway Tap.
Marie was a member of the Streator American Legion Auxiliary and was formerly of the Moose Family Center. She formerly belonged to St. Anthony of Padua Church and is currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.
She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren immensely.
Memorials may be directed to O.S.F. Hospice or St. Michael the Archangel Church.
