Marcelo “Marc” Rios, 71, of Pontiac, passed away with his son by his side on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at OSF St. James John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac, IL.

Following cremation, a mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac, IL at 11:00 AM on January 29th, 2022. A visitation will begin at 10:00 AM prior to the mass.
Marc will finally go home to his beloved Texas where his burial will take place in the Rios family cemetery.

Marc was born January 16, 1951, in Rio Hondo, TX to Encarnacion and Julia (Colunga) Rios.

He is survived by his son, Michael John Rios of Pontiac, his six grandchildren Alexandria Voorheis, Cierra Rios, Jaden Hershe, Michaela Harlan, Dallas Rios, and Nola Mays, as well as one great grandchild, Marlie Voorheis, and his siblings Juanita Rios and Enedina (Nadine) Rios. Also surviving are his many nieces and nephews whom he loved so dearly.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his daughter Marci Ann, and siblings Ventura, Ofemia, Johnny (Chonito), Valentine, Rocendo, Marcelino, and Phillippe.

Marc joined the job corps as a teenager. It was here, where he learned to box and to weld. In the 70s he moved from TX to Illinois where he met his wife, Cathy. They started a family and had two children, Mike and Marci. He dedicated his time and work to Interlake as a welder. Marc loved the Dallas Cowboys. His family and his children were his life. He was always the light and laughter at any gathering. Anywhere Marc went, he made a friend. His memory will live on through his surviving family and friends.
