Lois N. (Bauer) Spencer 97 of Streator died Friday afternoon (Jan. 20, 2012) at Heritage Health, Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. Jerry Haley, officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 PM Saturday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Spencer was born Jan. 3, 1915 in Streator the daughter of Frank and Esther (Robb) Cool. She married Lyle Bauer in Blue Mound IL, he preceded her in death in Jan. 23, 1961, she then married Melvin “Bud” Spencer Mar. 24, 1962 in Streator, he preceded her in death June 1, 1976. Lois had been employed as a nurse’s aid at Manteno State Hospital , and was also a beautician working from her home and later was a nurse’s aid at St. Mary’s Hospital and a caregiver for family members. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the former Streator Odd Fellows and Rebecca Lodge. She attended Streator grade schools and Streator High School . She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Ned) Champlain, Streator, two sons, Robert (Mary) Bauer, Streator and Jerry (Carol) Bauer, Long Point, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, one step daughter Carol Kelly, Washington state, and two step sons, Glenn (Karolyn) Spencer and Dale Spencer both of Sarasota FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother, William Cool and one step son, David Spencer. Memorials may be made to Firsts United Methodist Church , Streator or to the donor’s choice. |
