Linda Diane Shepard Sult, 67, of Streator, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at OSF St. Elizabeth, Ottawa, surrounded by her family after battling a courageous short fight with cancer.

 

Linda was born on September 30, 1956 in Streator, a daughter of Walter and JoAnn (Nelson) Shepard Sr..  She is survived by her life partner Ken Whitehurst.  Linda and Ken enjoyed 33 years together.

 

Also surviving are two sons, Richard Sult Jr. of Florida and Jeremy Seroka of Streator; two grandsons, Dominic and Landon, both of Streator; two sisters, Pam (John) Gray of Sherman and Lisa (Edward) Soule of Streator; and a brother, Walter Shepard Jr. of Streator.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and JoAnn.

 

Linda graduated from Streator High School and studied at IVCC, achieving her RN degree.  She proudly served her country in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany as a military police officer.

 

Linda worked at the State of Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle-Peru and at the Arc in Streator taking care of veterans as her career mission.

 

Linda’s beautiful generous life and spirit will forever be cherished by her children, grandsons, her siblings, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and very extended family and friends.

 

Graveside services will be held 12:30 PM Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Riverview Cemetery, Streator, with Pastor Rodney Kreier officiating.  Military rites will be performed by the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.  Cremation rites will be accorded.  Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home have been entrusted with arrangements.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
