Leroy J. Adelphia Sr.

Leroy J. Adelphia Sr., 71 of Kangley passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at his home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator, with Fr. Bruno Byomuhangi officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday and again from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Honorary Pallbearers: Edward Cordova, Jim Mackey, Rick Baumgartner, and Ron Hughes.  Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity.

Leroy was born in Chicago, son of Martin and Ruby (Kerns) Adelphia.  He married Donna G. Smith on December 29, 1979 in Chicago.  She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert Adelphia of Avon, Colorado, Leroy (Adrienne) Adelphia Jr. of Ottawa, and Russell (JoJo) Adelphia of Joliet; daughter, Elizabeth (R.J.) Swett of Ottawa; son-in-law, Matthew Kleidon of Kangley; five grandchildren, Dakota and Luke Adelphia, Charlotte Rose Adelphia, Caleb and Hayden Swett; and step-sister, Kathleen O’Connell of Chicago.  He was a loving brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and devoted, selfless, lifelong friend to too many to name.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his loving daughter, Rita Kleidon.

Leroy was a member of Laborers Local #1 in Chicago working as a concrete Laborer, as well as a truck driver.  He could build just about anything and always had a project or chore that he was working on.  Leroy always had a menagerie of animals that kept him busy and loved every minute of it.

He was an avid Chicago sports fan and anyone that played the Cubs.
