STREATOR- Leo A. Grennan 70 of Streator died Friday morning (Mar. 1, 2013) at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator with Rev. Dustin Schultz, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with a prayer service at 3:45 PM Tuesday, additional visitation will be Wednesday morning from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial with full military rites conducted by members of American Legion Post # 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492 will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Mr. Grennan was born Dec. 30, 1942 in Streator the son of Thomas and Helen (Rubis) Grennan. He married Cherie Williams July 12, 1969 in Pontiac. She survives.
Leo had been a pipefitter for forty seven years, most recently with Local # 597, Chicago. He taught welding to pipefitters for nineteen years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Elks Lodge # 591, and Monsignor George Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790 all of Streator. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Grade School and was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1961. He served with the US Air Force, 1962-1966.
He is survived by his wife, Cherie, one daughter, Jori (Jeff) Kasher, Roswell GA, one son, Sean (Tanya) Wheatland, Mooresville NC, three sisters, Bobbie Koral, Streator, Helen (Al) Johnston, Rolling Prairie IN and Mary (John) Poruba, Streator and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Thomas L. Grennan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Art and Randy Carlson, John Poruba and Al Johnston.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice.
