Lawrence "Larry" Sims

Lawrence “Larry” N. Sims, 86, of Streator passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at his residence surrounded by family.

 

Larry was born March 8, 1938 in Chicago, a son of Noel C. and Ilene (Ingram) Sims.

 

He is survived by his children, Christine Sims of Streator, Richard (Candice) Sims of Burbank, Jeffrey (Julie) Sims of Evergreen Park, John Sims and Brian (Lyn) Sims, both of Streator, and Michael (Audra Krant) Sims of Palos Hills; 10 grandchildren, David (Taylor) Sims, Tyler Dean, Kailey Sims, Jeremy Sims, Joshua Sims, Trevor Martin, Mary Martin, Brian Sims Jr., Robert Sims, and Olivija Sims; and 2 great grandchildren, Isaac Sims and Lilliana Sims.  Also surviving is a brother, Charles Sims of Rockford and Nynon Lambert of Arlington Heights.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Roberta D. Sims on April 26, 2020.

 

Larry had served in the United States Army.  He was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan.

 

There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Larry and Roberta on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  A graveside service will take place at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
