Laird “Larry” E. Grampp, 83, of Streator passed away peacefully at 7:55 AM Friday (July 12, 2019) at his residence.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at the Church.  Full military rites will be held at the church following the Mass by Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A private family burial will be in the Minonk Cemetery.

The Hagi & Baker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Laird was born on April 17, 1936 in Streator to Lester & Geraldine (Gould) Grampp.  He married the former Pat Dennahe on July 6, 1957 at St. Anthony’s Church.  Pat preceded him in death on March 25, 2007 as well as his parents and sister, Sharon Carlson.

He is survived by his children:  Coleen (Richard) Myers of Streator, Denise (Wayne) Blough of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Lester Grampp of Streator and Lawrence Grampp of Shawnee, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren:  Jack (Stephanie) Myers, Jarret Myers, Melissa (Chris) Amling, Katlyn (Thomas) Lubrano, William Anderson-Blough, Jacklyn (Donald) Orzechowski, James Grampp, Leland Grampp, Lynn Grampp and J.R. Grampp; 11 great grandchildren and a brother-in-law:  Dean Carlson of Streator.

He graduated from Minonk Grade School, attended Minonk High School and graduated from Streator Township High School.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and as a Streator Police Officer. He retired from Yellow Freight Trucking Company in 1995, achieving over 2 million safe driving miles.

Larry was a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and is currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.  He was also a member of Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.

Memorials may be directed to O.S.F. Hospice or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
