Joseph “Joe” Franklin Mullin, 61, of Grand Ridge, Illinois, fell asleep in death on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Ottawa, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator, Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joe was born on March 29, 1964, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Joseph Mullin and Sue Fredericks. On June 8, 1991, he married the love of his life, Jessie Sullivan, in Wenona, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jessie; three children, Joseph (Mackenzie) Stier of Newton, IA, Matthew (Gemma) Stier of Streator, IL and Julia (Joseph) Manley of Minonk, IL; and seven cherished grandchildren—Austin, Alliyah, Quintin, Catherine, Harley, Joshua, and Veronica. Also surviving are his father, Joseph (Donna) Mullin of Florida; his mother, Sue (William) Fredericks of Streator; sisters, Victoria (Mike) Turner of Princeton, IL and Melissa Fredericks of Chicago, IL; half-brother, Craig Mullin of Florida; and step-sisters, Dawn McCormick and Peggy Hull, both of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Traci Murray.
Joe was a longtime and faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ottawa, Illinois where he also served as an elder. His hope in the Bible’s promise of a resurrection (John 5:28, 29) was a source of strength for him and comfort for his family.
He will be remembered for his strong faith, steadfast love for his family and friends, and his quiet, steady kindness.
