Joseph Dondelinger
STREATOR- Joseph A. “Joe” Dondelinger 66 of rural Streator died Wednesday (Apr. 4, 2012) at Brandon Regional Hospital, Brandon Florida.
A Celebration of Life service will be held from 11:00 AM-4:00 PM Saturday at Festivities Unlimited, Rt. 6 and Poplar St. Ottawa with American Legion Post # 33 providing an Honor Guard Ceremony service at Noon, followed by a prayer and open eulogies. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Dondelinger was born July 12, 1945 in Peru the son of Frank and Antoinette (Byczynski) Dondelinger. He married Sharon Rea, June 17, 1998 in Ottawa. She survives.
Joe had served in the armed forces over twenty one years and retired from the Air National Guard, Peoria, he had also been employed by the State of Illinois Department of Transportation for forty two years, retiring in September 2011. He was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School, class of 1963. Joe was member of Ottawa American Legion Post # 33.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of rural Streator, one daughter, Cindy (Rod) Dilker, Kansas, two sons, Shaun P. Dondelinger, Streator and Troy M. (Dana) Dondelinger, Nebraska, four grandchildren, Samantha (Chris) Volesky, N. Carolina, Kirsty (Kenneth) McCoy, Streator, Tyler and Trevor Harnett, Kansas and one sister, Mary (Dick) Denis, Peru.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Robert Dondelinger.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name or given directly to the family.
