John "Jack" Dawson

John “Jack” T. Dawson, 76, of Streator passed away at 12:45 AM Thursday (January 3, 2019) at O.S.F St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac.

Private services will be held at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.  Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.  Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.  Family members will serve as pallbearers.

He was born on October 28, 1942 in Streator to John & Ronelva (Shaw) Dawson.  He married the former Mary Ann Schmitz on April 8, 1970.  She survives.

Also surviving are his three children:  Bill (Laura) Dawson of Ransom, James Dawson of Denver, CO and Angela Risley of Ancona; 4 grandchildren:  Brandon, Regina and Rachel Dawson and Jacob Verduzco; 1 great granddaughter, Scarlett Dawson; sisters:  Sandy (Terry Novotney) Mills of Morris, Sally (Frank O’Kraski) Marshall of Minonk; brothers:  James (Sue) Dawson of Lansing and Tom Dawson of Flanagan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Juli Lynn Dawson; a brother, Dan Dawson and a son-in-law, Daniel Risley.

He graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School and attended Streator Township High School.

He worked as a truck driver for several different companies and last worked at Scott Miller Trucking as a dispatcher.

He formerly belonged to the Streator Eagles Aerie #645.

He liked working on cars, goring to races and horses.
