RANSOM- Janet Michelle “Miki” Hepner 57 of Ransom, died Sunday evening (June 1, 2014) at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church, Ransom, with Father Jacob Rose, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with a prayer service at 4:00 PM Friday, additional visitation will be from 10:00-11:15 AM Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church, Ransom. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Ransom.
Ms. Hepner was born Oct. 7, 1956 at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan, the daughter of Lt. Col. Ronald and Mary Ellen (McCambridge) Legner.
Janet had been employed as a radiation technician for the Bartlett Co. prior to her illness. She had also been a licensed beautician for many years. Janet was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Ransom, and had served as a member of the Allen Township (Ransom) Fire Department as an Emergency Medical Technician for many years. She was a former coach for the Pioneer Seed “T” ball team the Ransom Grade School softball team and had played softball for Jerry’s Tap team. She attended various grade schools and was a graduate of Belton MO. High School, class of 1974. Miki was a diehard Chicago sports fan and enjoyed boating and golf cart rides.
She is survived by three daughters, Emily (Rob) Nelson, rural Streator, Hilary (Sean Kelly) Hepner, Ransom and Kaitlin (Jon Sauer) Hepner, Cape Girardeau Mo., three grandchildren, Joseph and Tessa Nelson and Isabel Sauer, her father, Lt. Col Ronald Legner Sr. (Ret), Ransom, three sisters Patrice (Allan) Simons of rural Streator, Mindy (Bill) Hepner and Mary Jo (Art) Armstrong of Ransom. Also surviving is her former husband Frank Hepner, Ransom and significant other, Mike Daggett, Bass Lake IN.
She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother, Ronald Legner Jr.
Pallbearers will be Jake and Beau Hepner, Adam Armstrong, Dusty Legner, Sean Kelly and Jon Sauer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rob Nelson and her many nieces.
Memorials may be made to the family to help defray medical expenses.
