James "Jim" Kerestes

James “Jim” T. Kerestes, 76, of Streator passed away at 4:01 PM Wednesday (February 15, 2017) at Heritage Health in Streator.

A visitation will be held from 3-6 PM Sunday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home and also from 10-11 AM Monday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.  Rev. John Gutz will officiate.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

He was born on February 28, 1940 in Streator to Thomas & Alberta (Orrison) Kerestes.  He married the former Judy Schallhammer on June 2, 1962 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.  She survives.

He is also survived by daughters:  Jamie (John) Kennedy of Seneca and Julie (Don) Lucas of Streator; grandchildren:  Makenzie and Mitchell Lucas and Hailey Kennedy;  a sister, Nancy (Dominic) Vercolio of Ottawa and Judy (Dave Sr.) Hallowell of Streator and a brother, Jerome Kerestes of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He attended Sherman Grade School and graduated from Streator Township High School in 1958.  He has worked at Vactor Manufacturing and had formerly worked at P & A Auto Parts.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the United Commercial Travelers.

Jim loved to watch Nascar Racing.
