James R. Brehman passed away at the age of 88 on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Streator, IL.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator, with Rev. David Tellinghuisen officiating. Burial will follow in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:00 PM prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be John Trewartha, Bob Trewartha, Dave Trewartha, Virl Voights, Kyle Voights and Mike Blakemore. Honorary pallbearers will be Delbert Brehman and Bruce Brehman.
James was born March 29, 1927 in Streator, the son of J. Lester and Margaret (McIntyre) Brehman. He lived his entire life in Streator. James attended Wolf Creek School, a one room Schoolhouse, and graduated from Streator Township High School in 1945.
James worked for many years at Brehman Grain Elevator and retired from R.R. Donnelley in 1992 after 23 years employment.
He was a member of Park Presbyterian Church, the Lions Club and former member of Streator Elks Lodge 591. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, dancing and tending to his garden.
He cherished the close friendships made while a member of Rural Youth. He also enjoyed bowling in the Senior League at Bowl-Mor Lanes.
James is survived by sisters: Jeanne Trewartha (his twin) of Plainfield, Edith Voights of Streator, Gayle Wargo of Streator, and sister-in-law Ruby Brehman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Loren and three brother-in-laws, Ray Voights, Richard Trewartha and Gil Wargo.
