Irene Van Pelt

STREATOR-  Irene M. Van Pelt 83 of Streator died Saturday morning (Apr. 12, 2014) at a private care home in Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Streator with Rev. John Gutz, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Van Pelt was born Aug. 2, 1930 in St. Louis MO, the daughter of John and Anna (Palya) Bagy. She married Everett Van Pelt Nov. 25, 1950 in Streator. He preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1999.
Irene had been employed at Northern Illinois Water Co. prior to her retirement. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she had been a member of the choir, she also was a member of Women of the Moose and the VFW Auxiliary. She attended St. Louis grade schools and was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1948.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Defenbaugh, Streator, one son, Ray (Debbie) Van Pelt, Streator, three grandchildren, Levi Van Pelt, Georgia, Chad Defenbaugh, Manville, and Codey Defenbaugh, Streator, two great grandchildren, Caden and Clayton Defenbaugh, both of Streator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband one sister, Ruth Kuehn and one brother, Richard Bagy.
Pallbearers will be Ray Van Pelt, Chad, Codey and Caden Defenbaugh, Larry and Jerry Kuehn.
