STREATOR-  Inez A. Heusel 88 of Streator died Saturday morning (July 19, 2014) in the outside garden area at the Richard Owens Hospice Home, Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. John Gutz, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Heusel was born Nov. 29, 1925 in Streator the daughter of Ellis and Alma (Mitchell) Hedrick. She married John W. Heusel, Nov. 28, 1946 in Wenona. He preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1995.
Inez had been employed during WWII as a welder, helping in the war effort at the Anthony Co. Streator, she later worked at the A&P Market and retired from Kroger’s in Streator.
She was of the Lutheran faith and had been active as both a donor and volunteer at the Streator American Red Cross. She attended Streator grade schools and was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1944.
A note from her children and grandchildren: Our Mom/Grandmother, was the rock of the family. She was a strong and gracious woman who sacrificed much for us. Our lives were all enriched by having her as our role model. We will miss her every day, but are thankful that she is at peace. To her many friends, we’d like to express our appreciation for your thoughts and prayers over the past weeks. You were important to her.
She is survived by one daughter, Sheri (Larry) Johns, Bartonville, three sons, Gary (Karen) Heusel, Lincoln NE, Wayne (Sheri) Heusel, Hudson and Ronald Heusel, Arvada CO, five grandchildren, Wayne Jr., Stephanie, Loren and Jason Heusel and Jeff Johns, one great granddaughter, Cadie Johns, three sisters, Gen Haynes and Avis (Jim) Harcharik, both of Streator and Nita Hedrick, Oregon, three brothers Glen (Faye) Hedrick, Wisconsin, Howard (Sherry) Hedrick, Streator and Virl Hedrick, currently traveling, and a sister-in-law, Pat Reynolds, Belvidere as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Wilma Hedrick in infancy, Carol Thomas and one brother Larry Hedrick.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and a great nephew, Trevor Hedrick.
Memorials may be made to the Streator American Red Cross.
