Ila Mae Armstrong

Ila Mae Armstrong, 86 of Ransom passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 at Heritage Health in Streator.

A memorial mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ransom with Fr. Bowan Schmitt officiating.  Inurnment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Ransom.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday prior to mass at the church.  Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of arrangements.

Ila Mae was born March 26, 1936, in Streator, a daughter of Arthur and Lila (Bedeker) Schallhammer.  She married Robert “Bob” L. Armstrong on November 6, 1954 at St. Mary’s of the Field Church in rural Grand Ridge.  He preceded her in death on March 11, 2019.

She is survived by her children, Arthur (Mary Jo) Armstrong, Tim (Kathy) Armstrong and Sherri (Todd) LeRoy, all of Ransom; 11 grandchildren, Brittany (AJ) Delaney, Holly Armstrong, Brooke (Jeremey) Sherman, Adam (Cassidy Conrade) Armstrong, Matthew Armstrong, Ryan Armstrong, Nicholas LeRoy, Devin (Beau) Doty, Kyle (Magda Wyszynski) LeRoy, Jessica (Ryan) Southerland, and Lucas Armstrong; and 9 great grandchildren.  Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Josephine Andrus of Arizona; and a sister, Judy Kerestes of Streator.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Craig Armstrong; and a brother-in-law, James Kerestes.

Ila Mae was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ransom.  She loved to watch sports and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
