Henry "Rick" Torres

Henry “Rick” John Torres, 76, of Streator passed away Saturday (March 2, 2019) at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria with his family by his side.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home and also from 10:30-11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.  The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 P.M.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Church.  Rev. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Payton Torres, Jacob Torres-Jemilo, Brinley Torres, John Jemilo, John “Jay” Torres, Bobby Torres, Gil Petre and John Araujo.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

He was born on June 12, 1942 in Ottawa, IL to James Cruz & Mary Anita (Martinez) Torres.  He married the former Mary Jo Steinbach formerly of LaSalle on July 21, 1967 in Ottawa, IL.  She survives.

He is also survived by his children:  Brian (Angy) Torres of Rochester and Vikki (John G. Jemilo) Torres of Auburn; grandchildren:  Kiley & Brinley Torres and Payton Torres and Jacob Torres-Jemilo; siblings, Anita Medina of Ottawa, John (Janet) Torres of Ottawa and James (Roxann) Torres Jr. of Ottawa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ricky Torres a brother Robert Torres and a sister, Frances Jaramillo.

He has worked for the railroad and then worked at Owen’s-Illinois Glass for 35 years retiring in 2001.

He was a former member of the Streator Eagles Aerie #645 and the Monsignor George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790.

Henry loved watching his grandchildren play sports, coaching, playing Euchre, the Chicago White Sox, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks.  He loved traveling and fishing.
