STREATOR-  Gertrude M. Milam 93 of Streator died Friday evening (May 9, 2014)  at Heritage Health, Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. Roger Hurlbut, officiating. Visitation will be from Noon-2:00 PM Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Ottawa.
Mrs. Milam was born July 29, 1920 in Lee County Illinois the daughter of Lars and Caroline (Tvedt) Jossendal. She married Warren Milam, Sept. 3, 1943 in Sioux Falls SD. He preceded her in death May 23, 2013.
Gertrude had been a clerk at the former Rudy’s Market, Streator. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator and had been active when the monument to the Canteen ladies was built at the Santé Fe depot, Streator and with the Sons of Norway. She attended Shabbona Grade School and was a graduate of Shabbona High School, class of 1938.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (Cam) Milam, Wheaton and David Milam, Bloomington, two grandchildren, Cindy (David) Bettini, Wheaton and Jeffrey (Hollie) Milam, Florissant MO., four great grandchildren, Natalie, Corinne, Jonathan and Addison, one sister, Lorraine Kingsnorth, Sycamore and one brother, William Jossendal, Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Larry Milam, two sisters, Olga Bianchi and Louise Parsons, three brothers, Antone, Lawrence and John Jossendal.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Sons of Norway, Norway Community Building, 3654 N. Illinois 71, Ottawa, Illinois 61350.
