George C. Ohligschlager, 76, of Streator, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator. Pastor John Gutz will officiate. Burial will follow in Moon Point Cemetery with Military rites performed by the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
George was born February 1, 1950 in Streator, a son of Alvin and Margaret (Mihalik) Ohligschlager.
He is survived by a nephew, Kristopher Ohligschlager; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald Ohligschlager; and a sister, Linda Ohligschlager.
George was a graduate of Woodland High School class of 1968. He had served in the United States Airforce from January 2, 1969 to December 13, 1972, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He then worked for Caterpillar as a welder, retiring after 30 years.
He was a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 in Streator where he had been a past Commander, Senior Vice and Financial Office and had served on the executive board many times.
George was a member of the Streator Eagles Club #645 and the Lazy Acres. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with his buddies at the Legion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.
