George Michlik, 95 of Streator passed away at 12:09 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at his residence.
A graveside service with military rites will be 11:30 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator, with Monsignor Philip Halfacre officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Elliott, Mark Dziewiontkoski, Dave Michlik and Jim Michlik. A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator prior to the services at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
George was born August 15, 1920 in Czechoslovakia, the son of Michael Sr. and Anna (Yuhas) Michlik. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Andrew and Michael Jr.
Surviving are nieces, Mary (Jeff) Elliott, Dr. Susan (Mark Dziewiontkoski) Michlik; and nephews, David (Dr. Janelle Bols) Michlik and James Michlik all of Streator.
George graduated from Streator High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater as a 2nd Class Petty Officer. He then graduated from Bradley University in 1949 with a degree in business administration.
He was Vice President of D&R Welding Supply Company and operated the Streator store. He was a former member of St. Stephen’s church and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.
