Gene Bell

Gene W. Bell 82 of Streator died Thursday morning (Sept. 8, 2011) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Streator.
Private family funeral services will be held in the Chapel at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator with Rev. Phillip Halfacre, officiating. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members of American Legion Post # 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492. There will be no visitation. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bell was born Mar. 28, 1929 in Streator the son of LeRoy and Dorothy (Wultzen) Bell Engle. He married Dorothy J. Lenhausen who preceded him in death Nov. 3, 2009.
Gene had been employed for forty six years at Thatcher Glass Co., Streator prior to his retirement. He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church , Streator. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army overseas.
He is survived by one step daughter, Judy (Donald) Traeger, Streator, step grandchildren, Nicole (Tim) Geary, Streator and Donald (Melinda) Traeger Jr., Jacksonville FL, step great grandchildren, Tristen Geary, Streator and Elizabeth and Donald Traeger III, Jacksonville FL, one sister, Judy (Howard) Donnell, Streator, several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters, Geraldine Rogers, Donna Amell and Pat Thorpe and one brother Tom Bell.
