Gail Ann McClernon, 90 of Streator, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at her home, which she has lived in for over 50 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator, with Fr. Ignacio Cárdenas officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Friday at the Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator.
Gail was born, June 3, 1934 in Streator, a daughter of Don and Dorothy (Helm) Robertson. She married Patrick J. McClernon on January 14, 1970. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin McClernon and Ethan (Mary) McClernon, both of Streator; three granddaughters, Kelli McClernon of Bloomington, and Ella and Jilliann McClernon, both of Streator; and three step-grandchildren, Madison, Jack and Hadley Richardson. Also, surviving are two brothers, Max (Vanessa) Robertson of Seneca, and Tad (Peg) Robertson of Streator; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Gail was the heart of our home and family. She raised 2 sons, Kevin and Ethan. She adored her three granddaughters, Kelli, Ella and Jilliann.
Gail was born and raised in the Streator Area. She attended local schools and graduated from Streator High School. She later attended school in Aurora for secretarial and bookkeeping. She held many jobs over her lifetime, starting at Krenz Refrigeration and then Anthony Company (which is where she meet her husband). She later was a clerk for LaSalle County Courthouse for several years and eventually retired from the Drivers License Facility in Streator.
Gail was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish. She was always active in her church and was a lector at Immaculate Conception Church and Eagle Church. She volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital and was a member of Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts, playing cards with her ladies’ group on Sundays and Golfing.
