Florence F. Matas 95 formerly of Streator died Monday morning (May 2, 2011)
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Church , Streator. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM Thursday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.
Mrs. Matas was born April 1, 1916 in Streator the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Scorby) Palaschak. She married John L. Matas, July 21, 1937 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death July 10, 2003.
Florence and her husband owned and operated Hill Brothers Confectionary in Streator for many years. She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church, and had attended rural schools.
She is survived by two daughters, July Minneci, Altamonte Springs FL and Sharon Guest, Bourbonnais , four grandchildren, Susan Stevenson, Michael Minneci, Todd and Britt Ringel and six great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, Elizabeth Minneci, two sisters, Irene Promenschenkel and Helen Green and three brothers Andrew, George and John Palaschak.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
