Esther Minder

Esther M. Minder, 76, of Streator passed away at 2:01 AM Saturday (November 11, 2017) at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

A visitation will be held from Noon until 2:00 PM Thursday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.  Rev. Rory Christensen of Central Church of Christ will officiate.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

She was born on April 3, 1941 in Streator to Edward & Ruby (Knudston) Slattery.  She married James A. Minder on March 14, 1959 in Streator.  He preceded her in death on July 3, 2008.

She is survived by his daughter, Shelly Minder of Streator; a son, Brian (Kathey) Minder of North Carolina; 6 grandchildren:  Steve, Brian and Robert Stavroplos, Adam Roy, Victoria Minder and Brandon Spellious; 6 great grandchildren; a sister Patricia Mosell of Streator; and several nieces and nephews including her caregiver, Brenda Stimpert of Streator.

She is preceded in death by his parents, husband and sisters:  Marge Osborn and Gloria Stevens.

She graduated from Streator Township High School.

She was a C.N.A. having worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and also at Paris Garter Factory and Opdykes in Streator.

She was a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and now a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.

She liked knitting and sewing.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
