Esther Kelley

Esther E. Kelley, 78, of Shenandoah, Iowa passed away on Thursday morning, December 22, 2016 at the Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nishna Valley Funeral & Cremation Service in Shenandoah with Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends with visitation one hour prior to the service Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Services will be held in Streator, Illinois on Wednesday morning December 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Peter Glock officiating at Hagi Funeral Home in Streator, Illinois. There will be visitation with the family one hour prior to service. Memorials in Esther's name are being directed to the Alzheimer's Association or to Goldenrod Manor Care Center in Clarinda. Burial will take place in the Riverview Cemetery in Streator, Illinois.
Esther Elaine Kelley was born on February 8, 1938 in Streator, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Cipalo) Kochis. She grew up in Streator and graduated from the Woodland High School in 1956. Esther worked as an office manager until her mid 30s and then went to work as a safety director and daytime dispatcher for RME Trucking, and worked for Illinois Fruit & Produce. Esther moved to live in Shenandoah, Iowa in the spring of 1991 and worked at the Shenandoah Wal-Mart as a greeter.
Esther married Roger N. Kelley on October 26, 1958 and they were blessed with two children, Kevin and Kathy. The couple divorced. Esther married Elmer V. Sneath on October 6, 1973. They later divorced.
In Streator, Esther was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge. In Shenandoah, she was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Esther enjoyed playing cards, especially “Euchre”, bowling, and traveling to see her family. She was a wonderful mom and grandma and a good friend to all who knew her.
Esther passed away at the Goldenrod Manor Care Center in Clarinda, Iowa on December 22, 2016, at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 14 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Kevin Kelley; and siblings, Ann Stinar, Elmer Kochis, Richard Kochis, Norma Marx, and Arthur Kochis.
Esther is survived by her daughter Kathy Mackey and husband Todd of Blanchard, IA; grandsons, Marcus Mackey and Kyle Mackey of Blanchard; sister Marian Carpenter of Fairview Park, OH; brother John Kochis and wife Betty of Streator; many nieces and nephews; extended relatives; and a host of friends.
