STREATOR-  Erma Louise Seymour of Streator passed away on Tuesday September 23, 2014. She was born in Streator on July 30, 1914 to Roland and Madeline (Burrows) Craft.
Erma married John D. Seymour on March 8, 1941. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2006 after 65 years of marriage. They enjoyed travelling and spent many winters living in Florida. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marion Craft of Streator.
She is survived by her children, John Seymour of Sheridan WY, Mary Kay (Michael) Pleck of Urbana, Robert (Marian) Seymour of Tampa FL and Judith (Mark) Dickey of Raleigh NC, grandchildren, Derek Seymour of Princeton KY, Lisa (David) Karner of Raleigh NC, Susan Pleck of Oakland CA, Laura Pleck of Urbana IL, Sarah (Evan) Cordes of Decatur GA, Meredith Dickey of Atlanta GA, Colin Dickey of Raleigh NC and great grandchildren, Kylie, Devin and Caden Karner of Raleigh NC.
Erma was a longtime housewife and mother who loved to cook, sew and care for her family. She was employed at G.C. Murphy’s on Main St. for several years prior to her marriage. She was a dedicated lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church and was active in St. Elizabeth’s Guild, the Altar Guild and King’s Daughters. She attended Sherman Grade School and was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1932. For the past several years, Erma was a resident of Liberty Village, Streator, where she welcomed family and friends several weeks ago in a celebration of her 100th birthday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Father Mark Geisler, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Monday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or to the donor’s choice.
