LONG POINT- Emily L. Rittenhouse 90 of rural Long Point, died Thursday evening (Oct. 2, 2014) at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with her son-in-law, Rev. Mark Matthews and Rev. Dana Jumper, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Tuesday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery.
Mrs. Rittenhouse was born Jan. 14, 1924 at home in Minonk, the daughter of Herman and Emilie (May) Timmerman. She married Ernest “Ernie” Rittenhouse Jan. 28, 1947 in Minonk. He survives.
Emily had been an accountant for many years working with her husband. They owned and operated Rittenhouse Warranty Claim Service. She was a member of Central Church of Christ, Streator and the Long Point American Legion Auxiliary. She attended Minonk Grade School and was a graduate of Minonk High School, class of 1941 and Browns Business College, Bloomington.
She is survived by her husband Ernie, three daughters, Sharon (Dr. Michael) Bukstein, Hannibal MO, Sheila (Charles) Melecosky, Westville, and Becky (Rev. Mark) Matthews, Hanover Park, six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and two sisters, Adeline Howes, Long Beach CA and Evelyn (Tom) Elwood, Coppell TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Herman “Junior” Timmerman.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
