Elba Castillo

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elba Castillo on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Elba was a loving wife and loving mother to three children and two grandchildren, whom she lived her life for.

Elba Carrillo Garcia was born May 19, 1953 in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico, a daughter of Francisco and Juanita (Garcia) Carrillo. She married Rafael D. Castillo on July 24, 1974 in Juarez, Mexico. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2017.

Surviving are two sons, Rafael Castillo Jr. of Streator and Eric (Kelli) Castillo of Cropsey; two grandchildren, Austin and Lainie Castillo; and two sisters, Emma Najera and Guadalupe Martinz, both of El Paso, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Daniel Castillo on January 10, 2005; three brothers, Juan Garcia, Ignacio Garcia and Joes Luis Garcia; and her beloved dog Rocky.

Elba was a mother to not only her children, but a loving mother to other kids and animals as well. She loved her dog Rocky and would help feed strays that came to the door. She enjoyed selling home interiors with friends, travel, watch novellas, and listen to her favorite music, especially Juan Gabriel.

She touched the lives of everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her selfless warmth and loving spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and compassion that lives on in all of us.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator. Monsignor Philip Halfacre will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
