Edwin Klein

Edwin Bud Klein, Sr., 80 of Streator died at 11:05 PM Monday, November 9, 2015 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center, Peoria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Friday, November 13, 2015 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. The Rev. Fr. Jacob Rose will officiate. Cremation rites will follow the service and inurnment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. Pallbearers will be Dick Prendergast, Dan Snow, Jim Batkiewicz, Chuck Klein, Mark Klein and Kurt Snow.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Dean Wargo, Al Blasco, Russ Paxton, Dave Dodge, Ed Poldek, Dick Killian and Kelly Hoffman.
Bud was born July 30, 1935 in Streator, the son of Frank and Julia Siroka Klein.  He married Phyllis Promenschenkel on August 2, 1955 at St. Anthony’s Church, Streator.  She preceded him in death on August 23, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Edwin Bud (Terri) Klein, Jr. of Streator and Douglas Paul (Rhonda) Klein of Jupiter, FL.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Helen Prendergast, Marcella Petty and Marianne Batkiewicz; and a brother, Frank G. Klein.
Bud attended St. Stephen’s School and was a graduate of Streator High School in 1953.  He worked as a meat cutter for S&S food Market, Thompson Foods and later Red Fox.
He was a former member of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.  He was a member of the Meat Cutters Union 187 for over 35 years.
Bud was an avid Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks and NASCAR fan.
