Edward A. “Ed” Entwistle, 76 of Streator passed away Friay, March 15, 2024 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice House, Peoria, surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 22, 2024 at Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator, with Pastor Jim Eplin officiating. A Private burial of ashes will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be distributed to various organizations.
Ed was born May 21, 1947 in Streator, the son of Charles and Eileen (MacMillan) Entwistle. He married Janice M. Kovalik on December 22, 1977 in Pontiac. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Edward Jr. (Rita) Entwistle and Ruth (Curtis) Edwards, both of Edmond, OK, Charleen (Andrew) Moore of Yukon, OK, Mary (Shawn) Rooth of Edmond, OK, Jody (Christine) Entwistle of Tuttle, OK, Karla (John) Harris of Edmond, OK, Susan (Jeff) Pollett and Tammy (Thomas Jr.) Aukland, both of Streator, Kristy (Trever North) Rients of Hudson, Charles (Jaki Paszek) Entwistle of Streator, Beth Edwards of Minonk, Brad Hert of Streator, and Ryan Hert of Minonk; a bonus child, Brian (Lora) Oldenburg of Pleasant View, CO; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three grandchildren, Emma and Jenna Pollett, and Kegan Entwistle.
Ed was a member of the Lighthouse Full Gospel Church in Streator. For many years, Ed was a youth group leader and a Sunday School teacher.
He had retired from ComEd after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Streator Freedom Association and was part of the volunteers who would put the Nativity Scene up in the City Park for years.
Ed enjoyed sports and fishing. He had been a football and basketball referee for many years. He played Men’s Slow Pitch softball in his younger years and was a pitcher. They won the 1978 City Championship playing for Amell’s Tap. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks fan.
Ed was known for being a proud supporter of Donald Trump. We also can’t forget his love for his beloved dog, Jagger.
