Donald Henry Colvin

Donald “Donnie” “Papa” H. Colvin, 63, of LaSalle formerly of Albany, NY, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Don was born June 26, 1962 in Saratoga Springs, New York, a son of Donald M. and Pauline A. (Williams) Colvin. He married Sylvia J. Hall on July 27, 2011 in Ottawa, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia of LaSalle; two sons, Don E. (Erin) Colvin of Salem, NY and Ryan L. (Jonelle) Ratcliff of Sterling, IL; a daughter, Nacoa Ratcliff of Woodbridge, VA; and six grandchildren, Keiara and Maeve Colvin, Elsie and Addison Derlein, and Jaciona and Andro Kinghorn. Also surviving his siblings, Jim Colvin, Mary Colvin and Harriett Duby all of Vermont and Jane Wright of New York; and his father-in-law, Larry “Bo” Barnes of Dalzell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Annie Colvin-Wright.

Don was a carpenter / home-builder in the LaSalle – Peru area for the last 25 years. He attended the First Baptist Church of Peru.

Don loved fishing and spending time with his friends and family.

Following Don’s wishes, his body has been donated to science and his hair to Locks of Love. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. Hagi & Schultz Funeral Home, Streator have been entrusted with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
