Denise Marie Betken, 61, of Streator, passed away at 2:24 PM Saturday (November 16, 2019) at O.S.F. St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

A visitation will be held from 9-11 AM Wednesday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church.  Rev. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.  Cremation rites have been accorded.

Her husband and children will serve as pallbearers.

She was born on August 21, 1958 in Joliet to Robert & Patricia (Ryan) Hausfeld.  She married John A. Betken in 1985.  He survives.

She is also survived by children:  Ian (Shawna) Betken of Streator, Colin (Mallory Steinke) Betken of Channahon and Patty Betken of Streator; 3 grandchildren:  Mayci, Paisley & Liam; her mother, Patricia Sager of Tinley Park; siblings:  Ellen (Michael) Lekas, Laura Beedon, Thomas (Andrea) Sager, Deborah (Phillip) Rucker, Lori (Timothy) Kelly, Michael (Laurie) Hausfeld, Sharon (Rick) Serrano, James Sager, William Sager, Vanessa Sager and Matthew Sager.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Sager.

She graduated from Tinley Park High School and the School of Hard Knocks.

She was the manager at Al’s Diner in Joliet and was currently the manager at Family Dollar in Streator.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Denise resided in Streator for the past 23 years having lived in Joliet prior.  She loved landscaping, crafts, home décor, spending time with her grandchildren and helping out anyone in need in any way she could.

Her family said she was an Angel sent from Heaven, a very loving, selfless human being and was very family oriented.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be designated later.
