David Drapp

David L. Drapp 78 of Streator died Monday (Aug. 22, 2011) at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church , Streator with Rev. John Gutz, officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial with full military rites conducted by members of American Legion Post # 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492 will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Streator. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Drapp was born Oct. 16, 1932 in Streator the son of Andrew and Mary (Klima) Drapp. He married Alice Berta Aug. 16, 1957 in Streator. She preceded him in death Mar. 26, 1974. He later married Angela Reinbold, June 22, 1984. She survives.
Dave had been a professional baseball player in the Washington Senators organization and later was employed at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. for thirty three years, following his retirement from Owens he played in the Senior Professional Softball League. Dave was an active sports enthusiast his lifetime. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church , American Legion Post # 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1492. He served with the US Army in Germany . He attended Streator grade schools and was a graduate of Streator High School class of 1950.
He is survived by his wife Angela, one daughter, Leslie (Rich) Sommer, Ottawa, two sons, Kirk (Mary) Drapp, Naperville and Darren (Barbara) Drapp, Park Ridge, four grandchildren, Matthew Sommer, Hawaii, Tyler Sommer, Southern Illinois University and Riley and Ali Drapp, Naperville and one sister, Ruth (Merle) Vissering, Leesburg, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Alice.
Pallbearers will be Bob Cipalo, Jim Yusko, Clarence Creamean, Jack Dzuris, Jerry Christensen, Jim Cherveny and Pete Pastirik.
Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
