Cora Bergeson

Cora J. Bergeson, 94, of Seneca, passed away at 8:50 AM Monday (June 12, 2017) at Heritage Health in Streator.

A visitation will be held from 10 AM until Noon Thursday at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home in Streator.

Funeral services will be held at Noon Thursday at the funeral home.  Rev. Kris Zierke of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Seneca will officiate.

Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Brookfield Township.

She was born on September 25, 1922 in Walcott, Iowa to Chris & Elsie (Hess) Petersen.  She married Homer Bergeson on September 25, 1940 in Iowa.  He preceded her in death in August of 2002.

She is survived by a son, Dennis (Diana) Bergeson of Ransom, a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Bergeson of Ransom; 6 grandchildren:  Richard Bergeson, Bill (Sheri) Bergeson and Laura (Bill) Dawson all of Ransom; Dawn (Scott) Hall of Bloomington, Paula (John) Quinn of Ballinamore, Ireland and Pamela Walker of Seneca; 14 great grandchildren and her twin sister, Corella Levein of Eldridge Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son Burnell Bergeson; 2 brothers:  Jerry Petersen and Burt Petersen and a sister, Amy Petersen.

She worked at the sewing factory in Marseilles until retirement.

Cora was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Seneca and loved crocheting, sewing and she made hundreds of quilt tops for World Relief for her church.

Memorials may be directed to her church.
