Clell A. Ivy, Sr. 69 of Streator passed away Tuesday evening (Feb. 23, 2016) at Heritage Health in Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator is in charge of arrangements.
Clell was born November 5, 1946 in Springfield, the son of Paul and Lillian Ivy. He served in the United States Army from December 17, 1964 to October 17, 1967. He was stationed in Heilbronn, Germany with the 1st Battalion 81st Artillery Pershing Missile.
He moved to Streator in 1973 and worked for Illinois Fruit and Produce and Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Co until being hired by ATSF Railroad in Chillicothe in 1984, where he worked as a Brakeman and Fireman. After taking ill in 2001, he was active in the VFW, AMVETS and the American Legion. He was elected Commander of Post 217 at Streator in 2011 and was later elected to Jr Vice Commander of 2nd Division District 12 of the American Legion in 2012. He served the American Legion until the time of his death.
He is survived by six sons, Mike, Jason, Stephen, Darryll, Percy and Allen; three daughters, Lisa, Tajarah and Marquite; 39 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Rodger, Mike, Aaron and Craig; and many nieces and nephews.
