Charles William Dominic, 86, of Streator passed away Sunday evening (February 24, 2019) at Heritage Health and Rehabilitation in Streator.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday (March 16, 2019) from 10 AM until Noon at the Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held at Noon Saturday (March 16, 2019) at the funeral home.  Rev. Anne Ferguson of First United Methodist Church will officiate.

Inurnment will be in the Long Point Cemetery at a later date.

He was born on September 8, 1932 in Streator to David & Mabel (Dykes) Dominic.

He is survived by his children:  Cinda Bond of Streator, Marisa Dominic of Streator, Carolyn (Terry) Schaul of Mundelein, Gale (Gerald) Morstatter of Streator, Bruce (Mary) Dominic of Streator, Colleen (Matthew) Bentz of Pella, Iowa, James Dominic of Wheaton, Paul (Ronelle) Dominic of Grand Prairie, TX and Christopher (Jessica) Dominic of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren:  Gabriella Saltigerald, Jessica Bond-Hert, Dominique Francis-Hubbard, Sara Sinclair, Amy Billittier, Cara Schaul, Abigale Holcomb, Hannah Morstatter, Andrew Bentz, Kayla Bentz, Alex Dominic, Logan Dominic, Michael Welch, Alycia Welch, Nathan Welch and Brandon and Jordan Edwards; 13 great grandchildren and two on the way; 1 great great granddaughter; a sister Mary Lou Vannoy of Carrollton, TX and his former wives:  Glenda Wargo Dominic Green of Seneca and Jeanne Zimmerman Webb Dominic Slawson of Jamestown, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers:  Robert, David, Donald and Alan Dominic; a great granddaughter Emalynn Welch; and his fiancé, Jean Smigel.

Charles graduated from Streator Township High School in 1950 and received his Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University and his C.P.A. Degree from the University of Illinois.

He started his career as an accountant for Ernst & Ernst in Chicago, then for Jero-Black in Streator, started a private practice in Streator, then for GATX in Chicago, followed by the Copley Newspaper Chain and then back to Streator for private practice until his retirement in 2005.

He served on the Streator City Council for two terms, was a founding member of the Streator Jaycees, a founding member of the Streator Downtown Area Businesses, was the treasurer for the Streator Hobby Council and a former member of Streator Eagles Aerie #645, The Moose Family Center and the Streator Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #591.

His children and grandchildren were everything to him.  He enjoyed nature including hiking in our state and local parks, canoeing, the Chicago White Sox and was an avid reader.  He also edited the book “Crossing the Mississippi” by Richard Bryan.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Streator 4th of July Committee, the Streator Public Library or the charity of the donor’s choice.
